Finally.

Welp! It's kind of weird that I spent so much time creating a blog and then disappear, however, it's been mighty crazy at the Shaw household.

Since my last post, Walter has:
- Gotten his tongue snipped - yuck.
- Started crawing
- Gotten his top 2 and bottom 2 teeth
- Pulled himself up - almost walking!
- Battled HFM (Hands Foot Mouth) - that was fun!
- Got croup (again!)
- Sleeps through the night!
- Started eating solids (eggs are his favorite)
- Met Eva, his oldest cousin, for the first time
- Met Uncle Brent!

                                                                         Walteee Bear
Cousins meet for the first time!

                                                                Bath Time!!
                                                                      HUGH?!
                                                               Hands, Foot, Mouth

He has recently picked up the word "hi" and loves to wave hello and goodbye!  He is such a sweet boy and loves to brighten people's day by giggling and "chirping".

More to come; I just needed a little jump start to get back in the swing of things.

Xoxo,

Introductions, Smiles and Flu Bugs

We've had an interesting and busy couple of weeks!

First and foremost, Olivia's tonsil/adenoid surgery was a success. She is now on the mend! Now, if we could just get her to eat/drink something, I'm sure Emily and Michael would feel a lot better :)

Next, Walter was introduced to his Uncle Clay! Clay loved Walter. He fed him and bathed him, but for some reason when I asked him to change his diaper, he politely declined. He had a lot of fun with him last weekend. It's always strange for siblings to meet their first niece or nephew. I remember when I met Eva for the first time...I was overwhelmed (not just whelmed-haha) with emotions. I couldn't believe I was holding a beautiful baby that my brother and Karla CREATED. Amazing. I could see the same emotions running through Clay and I loved it.

Let's back up a little now. A couple of weeks ago his Grandma Shaw was able to visit Walter again. Unfortunately she chose a weekend when Walter decided to get the flu bug and a diaper rash from Hell. Poor G'Shaw got to experience two parents that were experiencing their child sick for the first time and a grandchild that was experiencing his first bout of firebutt...not a good combo. She was great! She gave us excellent grammy advice and within a day, Dubya was on the mend. Thanks Grandma Shaw!!

On to better news...Walter is a smiling machine! He's not quite giggling yet, but he's trying his hardest to let out that first laugh. He is so much fun - he can recognize Bob and me now...it's the greatest feeling when your bebe smiles at you...I'm such a cheeseball. Here he is sticking out his tongue...he's silly, just like Dad :)

Well, that's it for now! Abrupt, I know.

Love to all.

Moving Up in the World...Or, Just Moving Up.

So, the verdict is in...Walter does not like the new bed. We officially moved Walter upstairs to his room and as it turns out, we've practically moved in upstairs as well. We decided that instead of trekking upstairs to feed and change W every couple of hours in the wee hours of the night that it would be best to sleep in the guest room for a couple of weeks while he (WE) get aquainted with the living situation.
Turns out changing up routines is hard to do not only for the kiddo, but for the parentals as well. I think it was harder for us to not have him near us than it was for Walter. I couldn't just sit up and listen for him breathing, hear his little coos directely next to me or just take comfort in the fact that he was only two feet away. Nope, my little boy is growing up and moving up in the house...How exciting!

Walter is starting to soak in the world around him. He is becoming more and more interested in things in his environment - I swear that he was watching Monday Night Football with Dad last night! He is also noticing when his environment changes and when new people enter his little world. He is so much fun watch as he curiously looks around!

We got our first out of town visit this weekend from SLC. AunT ChulT came up and finally got to meet Walter! ChulT is an avid Packers fan, so she thought it was only fair to bring Walter his first Cheesehead...

Ok, he looks unhappy and a little on the chunky side, but I can't find my cord to my camera to get the good pictures, so this pic from my phone will have to do. Either way, he LOVES his AunT ChulT AND his cheesehead...Thanks ChulT! (GO CHARGERS!)

Walter is starting to look a lot like his daddy. His eyebrows, eyes, lips and nose are all 100% Bob...I think the only thing he gets from his mom are his double chins.

Isn't he cute?! He's already two months old! I just hope that he starts to sleep a little better as he gets a little older.

The Shawnicles: Introduction

Bob, Walter and I would like to welcome you. We decided keeping a log of our lives was a good way to keep peeps in the loop with our growing family.

First, we are happy to announce the arrival of our sweet little pumpkin, Walter Jacob Shaw, who came into this world on August 10, 2011 at 2:02. We have enjoyed every second of this little guy.

Yesterday Walter decided it was his time to intentionally smile. He doesn't really smile much for mommy, but loves to smile big for dad.  I try to make him smile, but he usually just furrows his brow and moves on to something else...maybe some day he'll appreciate the stupid noises I make to get him to try to smile...or maybe not.

Another new addition to our family is Alma Maria Alvord; Brent and Karla's precious little girl. She was a whopping 7lbs 10oz and if you know Karla, that's a big bebe...she even delivered naturally! I don't care what anyone says; a natural birth deserves mega kudos! Way to go, Karla!

Unfortunately my maternity leave is coming to an end soon. We have made the decision to place Walter in the Children's Center at Boise State. The program is supposed to be amazing, but it didn't make the decision any easier. It does help that his cousin, Olivia, is only a few seconds away. She's also at the Children's Center, but enrolled in the toddler program. At least he'll have a buddy that's close and vice versa!
